G is for Gerrett

Black hair, soft strands and curls. A tongue running over for a taste of his lips and tracing over the shape of his fuller, lower lip. Kym parted them, taking a long breath in, and pressed his hands up to the glass above him.

"He's awake," came a voice from somewhere else in the room.

          "Good, let him out."

A hiss of air. Kym's pulse sped as he braced his limbs against the case he seemed to be within. His feet were bare, the cold of the case's material pressed over the underside of his foot as he found the lower edge.

          "He's frightened," one voice observed.

"He probably should be," another said, quite detached.

The glass roof casting his vague ghost reflection eased itself off in a slow retraction moving from his head down to his toes. Kym's hands found purchase on the edges of the frame of the case and, lifting himself, the room beyond his case began to come into view.

Dark, cold, unwelcoming. Kym blinked over his deep and dark blue eyes turning to take in the lay of the room about him.

"You'll never find your way out of here," the formally detached voice taunted cruelly.

There was a door, just...over there in front of him. The strands of hair which curled toward the ends brushed over his skin as he lifted his head back, taking in what was shown above. Nothing much more than a speaker in the ceiling.

The rim of the case was rough over his fingers, the shape dug in as he pressed down through his hands and brought himself to a stand. More cases. Open ones. A frown found its way over Kym's eyes, a foreign feeling for certain. He didn't frown a lot, hardly ever actually.

"It's cold in here," he announced, maybe to himself if no-one else was here with him. A breeze flew across and around the room, hitting him, breathing against him. Kym's eyes found their way over to his hands and from there down to his waist. ^Naked.^ Naked as the day he was born, no wonder it was cold.

"Start running Gerrett, we'll see how far you get," that voice again, taunting, laughing at him.
Gerrett? Oh yes, his name. Not Kym at all then. Kym was his middle name, something he'd gone by on the odd occasion. This was definitely an odd occasion.

F is for Frellen

The population living on Frellick speak a mixture of languages. There is a smattering of French but largely the language is English. The other language spoken is Frellen. Here are two sections of pieces in both Frellen and English.

I pray for the dead
And so, for the living
And help to those who are lost

For tortured souls who are trapped
Or are taken
Help can be found in your prayer

Lost souls hear your prayer
From a time long since passed
Journey's end is nothing to fear
For in Visus' light safety abounds

All your fears be laid to rest
Life will flow from your hearts
Dispersing the sin from the way

Protect your young from Evil's intent
Young soul's prayers lead your light
For tortured souls who are trapped or are taken
Help can be found in this prayer.

E is for Erin

Erin turned on his heel to begin walking back along the path he had been treading for the last hour but this time something had him stop and turn brandishing his weapon. "Who goes there!" He growled in a menacing voice, the way it always went when raising his voice. A figure stood on the other side of the compound draped in shadow with a sword in its sheath hanging loosely at his side. Erin couldn't make him out from where they both were stood but something had him drop his rifle and position it back onto his shoulder.

The two looked at each other and didn't move for many long minutes. Erin's breaths in his chest were gradually growing shallower, especially as, for the first time since his awakening, he felt his heartbeat.

It was dark and cold, the cold was pressing in on him as it always did, mist was draping the expanse between them and Erin was beginning to feel a longing he hadn't been aware he possessed. It must have been an eerie scene to anyone's eyes, something likened to two brothers meeting after an exceedingly long separation. Erin took a step forward, his gun was still relaxed on his shoulder and after the other took a step they both took a further one.

There were few lights in this area but gradually both of their faces were revealed, Erin's with his right eye bandaged, that said bandage was layered through his black, softly spiked hair and the other man with his left eye sewn neatly shut. He had light brown hair draping down to brush against the forementioned eye. Erin knew that face, it was hidden somewhere between forgetting and memory.
          "Erin."

D is for Death

His eyes roamed over the room again finally falling on a small half-starved scarecrow. Yes, that one. A smile stretched the skin around his face and he felt the stitches sag. Yes it had been too long. He knelt down by the bed and tilted her face to look into his. Every breath she took seemed effort and her colour was beyond illness. Death touched her hand and her hair before looking into her eyes.

"Do you want to die?" He whispered, even after many years he still found it odd that he could still sound caring saying that.

"No." She whimpered, she barely had the energy to cry.

"I can give you a life of safety, it will not be a long life but I can give you more years than you have available."

"What do I have tuh do?" She asked crying now, maybe hope swelled her heart and gave her the energy.

"I need a donor. You will give me your blood as I require it. In return you will receive teachings and years. I will never allow you to be hurt ever again. I can take your memory and calm it. You'll never be the girl you are now again but, you will live. You will have your own will and we will speak with each other in a way no other will recognise. Your mind will be wrapped in mine and we will decide everything together, no more independence but you will have your will, you will have a choice in everything."

"I don't wan’ tuh die. I wan’ go with you." The poor girl, she probably didn’t understand what was being asked of her, what he would take.
"Then open your mouth and take my life nectar." A red droplet of liquid appeared, dangling from his index finger. The girl parted her lips and took it down. After a moment her colour improved. She took a deep breath and sat up, looking into Death's eyes.

C is for Creatures

The creatures looked up with interest, their eyes flicked and moved around in panic, they fell on the window. the dark, silent window, they had heard. The male watched them, their sleek bodies moved and twitched, the noses moving constantly as if getting ready for an attack. The ears interested him, he hushed the child with his finger and watched. They moved, in all directions, in circles, pure movement. Like a clock that kept winding round without stopping. Up and down, like a seesaw. He placed his hand on the cold glass and peered out at the mysterious blue-black blanket of night sky. Slowly becoming aware that the beautiful sleek blue-black creatures had no interest in him. He opened his eyes wide and searched as if he was panicked, he searched the dark skies desperately as if he was the one in danger. The intense silence was long and frustrating to be in, something was happening out there, but what was it? The silence was prolonged by the slow ticking of the clock, nothing moved...and then! Quick as a flash of lightning, it came from nowhere, the small dart of white, the creatures, illuminated by the flash ran from the square in panicked urgency. They could have killed the owner of the luminescent white glow, it was tiny and they were huge compared to it, but the creatures fled as if they had been shot.
The male gave up his continued search for that strange, broken night and retired to his bed, suddenly tired and very worn out even though he had been doing nothing at all, but sitting down and watching the dark night sky and the wild beasts that no-one knew of but he.

B is for Bell

Bell watched from beautifully pink eyes. Her hair billowed out behind her blonde and flowing as she ran a few steps forward making not the slightest sound. She remained within the doorway a few more moments watching Zacharius as if he were a predator. Bell moved again. Travelling close enough to the long seats to place herself upon one she lowered onto one. Folding her legs beneath her Bell discretely observed Zacharius. The atmosphere was so still, still enough for her light breathing to be heard.

Bell remained seated with Zacharius perfectly silent for enough time to pass that the light shining in through a grand double window faded. Slowly the shadows in the room lengthened until they climbed the walls. Bell glanced briefly through the windows behind her watching the light as it was shut out entirely by the first moon. The darkness lasted two possibly three hours before light broke through once more Bell alerted to Zacharius beginning to stir
Having been sat perfectly at ease in the peaceful nephili’s company for so long Bell rose. Now that he was waking her pulse quickened. Bell observed his stirrings grow more adamant and she spun on her feet disappearing, leaving no trace of her having been there.

A is for Aion

Aion, a tall lean man with waist length black hair tainted with white and crystal blue, opened his eyes of faded amethyst coughing as he did every moment of first awakening. Beside him, in the bed not far away from his own woke another, his black hair staying close to his neck but didn’t reach his shoulders. He had a perpetually cruel appearance which turned most away at their first glance of him.

“Zahn?” Aion asked, his voice cracked and dry with no rasp yet gentle. “Are you awake Zahn?”

“Aye. I be awake young friend,” Zahn whispered back in a salty voice. His cruel and thin lipped mouth broke into an easy smile as he turned his head over in Aion’s direction. “They been by yet to awaken us sorry wretches?”

“Not yet. I think they’re coming around very soon.” Aion pushed down on the mattress sitting himself up. “Have you had any messages?”

Zahn closed his mud-brown eyes and Aion watched them move beneath his friend’s eyelids.

“No. All is quiet on that front. It has been for some time. Take it easy Aion.” Looking over Aion’s rounded, yet angular face Zahn’s smile improved; Aion wasn’t really one to take things any other way if he could help it.

Aion had been in the prison of the Shadow before Zahn was captured and joined him. In all that time, and time since, Aion did everything without very much complaint, taking it all in as if he was taking a walk through the autumn
forests of Presia, their long ago home.
